Introduction

The operator of this website, the Zürcherische Seidenindustrie Gesellschaft (“ZSIG”), Beethovenstrasse 20, CH-8002 Zürich (“we”) takes the protection of your personal data seriously. We treat your personal data (i.e., all information which may be linked to an identified or identifiable individual, “personal data“) confidentially and in accordance with the applicable data protection legislation as well as this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”).

When accessing this website, or when you submit a sponsorship application, you consent to the collection, use and other processing of data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you disagree, either in part or entirely, you may not access our website, submit a sponsorship application or otherwise communicate with us.

Personal data processed

The scope and type of the personal data processed is dependent on the nature of our relationship with you.

Our website can, in principle, be visited without registration. When you access our website data such as the pages viewed, as well as the name of the file accessed, the date and time are stored on the server for statistical purposes, without this data being directly linked to your person.

Personal data, in particular name, address or e-mail address are collected, as far as possible, on a voluntary basis. If you have provided us with corresponding personal data, we will process the content of sponsorship applications and other communication data (in particular e-mails).

We do not monitor your behaviour, nor do we subject you to a decision based on automatic processing.

This Privacy Policy also applies to the processing of personal data of other individuals that you make available to us. You are responsible for informing the relevant individuals of this Privacy Policy and ensuring that the individuals whose data you provide us with have agreed to this Privacy Policy and the processing of their personal data as described herein.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that make it possible to store specific information related to users on their end device while they are using the website. Cookies (including cookies from third-party providers such as Google Analytics) make it possible, in particular, to determine the frequency of use and number of users of the pages, to analyze behavioral patterns of page use (including references to it, popularity of certain content, access to user categories, markets, regions, languages, demographic data, browser and device types and similar information), but also to make our offer more customer-friendly.

Third-party providers such as Google may track your use of our website, combine this information with information from other websites you have visited (which they also track), and use this combined information for their own purposes. If you have registered with the respective service providers, they may be able to identify you. In these cases, the processing of your personal data is subject to the respective privacy policies (information on how Google uses your personal data when you use our website can be found here [web link: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites]).

Cookies remain stored beyond the end of a browser session and can be accessed again when you revisit the site. If you do not wish this to happen, you should set your internet browser to refuse or prevent the acceptance and storage of cookies (or to disable Google Analytics by downloading and installing the Google browser add-on available here [web link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout]). Please note that you may then not be able to use all of the website’s functions.

Server Log Files

Our website automatically collects and stores information in so-called Server Log Files which your browser sends to us automatically. These are:

  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Hostname of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request

This data cannot be related to a specific person. This data is not combined with other data sources. However, we reserve the right to examine this data retroactively if we become aware of specific indices for unlawful use.

Purpose for processing

We use personal data in order to provide a functioning website and its content for our communication with you.

We process the personal data which you make available to us within the framework of a sponsorship application insofar as this data relates to the assessment and decision on applications, or is necessary for the execution of a corresponding project sponsorship.

Basis for processing

The processing of your personal data for the purposes mentioned herein is based, among others, on our legitimate interest in the maintenance of communication on our project sponsorships and other services as well as the execution of the project sponsorship and other services (incl. operation of the website), insofar as you have not provided your consent or another basis for the lawful processing of your personal data in accordance with applicable law applies.

Data transfer

Your personal data is processed by us and our carefully selected IT service providers, who are obliged to protect your personal data to the same extent as we do. The use of or access to your personal data is also limited to those persons who need it. We do not sell your personal data and only pass it on to other third parties if you give your prior consent, if this is required by applicable law or if we have an overriding interest in passing on your personal data in an individual case.

Our service providers are primarily domiciled in Switzerland, but in some cases in the EU/EEA and the US. To the extent that this results in a transfer to a country that does not ensure an adequate level of data protection in accordance with applicable data protection law, appropriate data protection is ensured through standard data protection clauses.

Data security

We employ suitable technical and organisational measures and strive, in cooperation with our hosting providers, to protect the databases as best as possible from accidental or willful manipulation, unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, damage or destruction, misuse or falsification.

Our security measures are continually improved in accordance with technological developments and comply with applicable data protection law. Among others, our website employs SSL/TLS encryption to protect the transfer of confidential content. You can recognize an encrypted connection when the address line in your browser switches from “http://” to “https://” and on the basis of the lock symbol in your browser line. When the SSL / TLS encryption is active the data which you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

However, data transmission over the internet (e.g. communication via e-mail) is never completely secure. A seamless protection of your personal data is not possible and all transfers of your personal data to us are conducted at your own risk.

Your rights

We grant you all the rights which are granted to you under applicable data protection law. In particular, you have the right:

  • to know which personal data we process about you;
  • to demand the correction or amendment of your personal data, should it be incorrectly or incompletely reproduced;
  • to demand the deletion of your personal data, or in certain cases, a temporary restriction on its processing;
  • to object to the processing of your personal data;
  • under certain circumstances, to receive your personal data in machine-readable form and pass it on to another provider;
  • to withdraw your consent, insofar as our processing is based on your consent.

Data storage

We store your personal data for as long as is required for the achievement of the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, in order to answer your queries, and to make a decision on a sponsorship application and/or is necessary or expedient in accordance with applicable law. Statutory retention obligations are reserved.

Changes

We can change this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice. The respective current version published on our website is valid.

Authoritative Language

Please note that this is an informal English translation of the German privacy policy (Datenschutzerklärung). In the event of any contradictions or discrepancies between the German and the English version of this privacy policy, the German version shall prevail.
